    Love these so much! 🧜‍♀️🕶

Beautiful 🤩 sunglasses. Excellent quality. Fits perfectly! Got the Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ sunglasses for my friend and I who love the beach and the water. We joke that we’re mermaids so we had to have these when we saw them on Instagram.

I’ve had these sunnies for quite a while & I still receive compliments when I wear them! The lenses have held up well as has the frame. Let me just say I usually lose my glasses before I damage them and I’ve held onto these over a year! Amazing. I really love them! Thanks SLYK! Chose love and spread compassion.

    Love my Slyk shades!!

These are such a beautiful and unique pair of sunglasses, I get compliments every time I wear them!! I’m an occupational therapist and have spent the last 35 years working with people whose lives have been changed by injury, illness and trauma~ the minute I read the story behind the shades I knew these were meant for me! A brand focused on positivity, compassion and kindness. No matter what, find the good; love this!! 💗

    Mermaid shades

The mermaid shades are gorgeous. I saw an ad on Facebook and was first attracted to them because of the name, since I love mermaids. Then I read that they had sustainably harvested wood and abalone, that a tree would be planted, and it was a sweet story with the founder, so I decided to splurge. I liked that Josh sent a handwritten note and it made me want to write him one back, but how would I get it to him? I wanted to share my thoughts/feelings in hopes that it would somehow land and create contemplation.
What I found is that I felt guilty and sad once they arrived and after the initial dopamine of buying them had worn off, because even though they are a conscious product, they are still a product that promotes ego and is extracting from the Earth. Right now our Mother Earth is hurting so badly, screaming out for us to change our destructive ways, which are mostly driven by greedy, out of control egos that refuse to acknowledge the interconnected reality of All Our Relations, many of which are suffering due to the parasitic nature of human activity that just takes and doesn’t give back. Is the colonialistic extraction of our Mother’s resources to make ourselves look good really worth it in the end?
I still love the sunglasses and it doesn’t make sense to return them. They do have a slight bump on one of the sides where perhaps there was a crack in the shell that was fixed, but it’s no big deal.
I don’t have the answers but still wanted to share my existential/ethical dilemma because I believe we all need to be looking at this. The pandemic, the wildfires, the floods, are all forcing us to look at this, as the planet seems to be on the brink of destruction and she needs us to wake up. Thank you for planting a tree :)
